I started control on a job that another local survey company did an ALTA survey on a couple years ago. My client is the the same as theirs, except I'm picking it up at construction and laser scanning. There will be a big building placed here with a parking garage. The project has two right of ways where the two set of monuments are. The ALTA survey shows coordinates on four monuments, 2 on each ROW, however if I hold two and check to the other two I get a difference of 0.1' on one and 0.2' on another. Between the two sets is only around 200 feet. The distance between each set matches pretty darn good, but when I connect the two sets it appears to be off. I've double checked my work and my closure is good. Given they have done the ALTA survey and signed their life away on accuracy standards, what would you all do?

Ken

Ken,
It sounds like you were on the ground. If not go take a look. Assuming things are as they seem I would call the Surveyor of Record and go over the findings. If it doesn't get cleared up quick you need to explain that as the contract says, price just went up...
I've found that a respectful approach gets the conversation moving in most cases..
Good luck.

Yeah, that was the first choice I had in my cluttered mind today. I want to obviously double check my work one more time, but I may do that. Thanks!
