I guess I should pay better attention, I did not know that there was this many systems available and JAVAD GNSS receivers can now track Chinese Compass (Beidou-2).

Does any one here have Javad receivers? Do you like them?

I have some older Javad stuff - before the merger with Topcon that brought their GPS game to the top. If I needed new stuff, I would not hesitate to get some more green stuff. Javad was kinda the father of a lot of systems, and his stuff has always been great in the past. What lacks is teh marketing and dealer networks - but teh equipment has been top knotch. Do some research on the man if you are interested, you will be impressed at his involvment and legacy.

PS, that is a Javad Odyssey in my pic 🙂

If all goes according to plan, pretty soon there will be over 100 satellites in the sky.....and real time positioning without any processing is going to get awfully accurate.

Just think about using GPS to look for a corner monument and your client is right behind you with his hand-held unit reading twenty or thirty sats at once.

I'm a Leica man...

When I first started to do GPS work in 1989 it was on the Trimble Navigation 4000SL, I think was the name... I know it was the 4000 series. Huge antenna, receiver was 45 lbs. and I thought I was in heaven. But since then, I really like what Leica has on the table. Dependable, lightweight, and accurate. I have attached a picture of their 500 series system that I use.... It also adapts into the Smartrover configuration for RTK apps...

That sure looks like a 1200 system to me.

It looks like the 900 series that I won at CONEXPO awhile back.

Dugger,
I have 4 Javad Triumph 1's, and a Trimble R8 Network Rover.
I actually prefer the Javad at times (mostly because of the Carlson SurvCE software on the collector vs. Trimble Access on the TSC2).
Javad makes pretty good stuff, and costs considerably less than Trimble and Leica. Don't get me wrong, I love the integrated surveying feature of the Trimble S6 Robot / R8 GNSS Receiver...but you will pay a premium for it.

An engineering firm I worked for in the past used Leica 530's. Naturally the Javad is far superior to that set-up (Wireless Bluetooth, GLONSS etc.).
I don't think you'd be disappointed if you try Javad...at least I wasn't...just my two cents.

Feel free to email me w/any questions.

I have never used them myself, but I do have a friend that is working for them out of the Sacramento area. From what I gather they are working hard to market their products.

The 1200 series (I misnamed on the photo) has bluetooth and wireless, and Glonass.

I wouldn't worry too much, just yet anyway. Compass has 3 operational satellites, and 2 of them are geostationary over China.
