Actually a Closing Township Corner (obviously), and YES, there is an overhang above the "+" and numerous observations (and taped distances) were required to get a good Position on it.

Don't you hate it when the GLO deputy chiseled the mark on an overhanging vertical face instead of on top of the boulder.
Like they wanted others to easily find it rather than have it get covered up. 😉

That's nice.
Did you tidy it up? Looks rather like a 'new pin'.
What's the 6 -'s for? CC?
Very cool:)
Is it on line, or do you need to set a shiny new mon?
Nice hash marks. Cool photo!

No "tidy up" needed, its position is quite protected, and the marks look GREAT.
6 grooves East and the CC for Closing Corner. It doesn't really control much (if anything) anymore, the entire area is controlled by Mineral Surveys now.

Nope, that's how they look.
HARD Quartzite, 120 years is NOTHING compared to how long that face has been weathering up there!
