Typically I use Windows Explorer to browse my files and folders.

I like to use the detail style rather than thumbnails.

My problem is this....sometimes my icons look like this...

Then without changing any settings it will look like this...

I like the second style better. I'm confused as to why it keeps changing back and forth without any effort on my part.

It could be the last program you opened it with, makes it the default program.

Organize
Properties
Choose the program that opens the files in that folder

and on the right side of the window on the toolbar is a tab looks like three lines and a down button, click and choose small, medium or large icons

Even the folder icon changes so that you can supposedly see part of what is in the folder.
It has changed back and forth several times.

Maybe I need to set one folder up like I want it and tell it to make all the rest the same way?

The top ones look like thumbnails and the bottom ones look like program associations... on my Win 7 Pro machine JPGs are associated with Windows Photo Viewer so I get that icon on all of them. I can't duplicate what you're seeing at the top.

This is caused by some junk image viewer so unistall all programs except the ones you use.

I sent my Cad station to a supposedly good computer store to stop the blue screen and also reinstall
widows 7 and it came back with the same blue screen problem plus with those silly red frogs caused by irfanview.

The computer store had my pc for three days and they put nothing but carbage little programs on it
i did not ask for.

So after a month of cleaning out endless silly worthless little programs i
reinstalled win 7 MYSELF of the original DVD and
all is good now zero blue screen and autocad C3D 2016 is more stable.

I swear i will never go to those hack computer geeks again

Pete

Irfanview is far from being a silly worthless program.

This thumbnail type view extends to the folder icon as well. You get a little yellow folder with a hint of whats inside.
I'm thinking windows update maybe.
