One of the remaining bugaboos associated with my switch to a new workstation with a fresh install of Windows 10 (not an upgrade) was the plotter problem: HP doesn't offer a Win10 64-bit driver for the long-obsolete DesignJet 450C. I tried a number of things to get it to work but wasn't successful, and since I don't do a lot of plotting anymore I've been limping along by plotting through a mostly-retired workstation that was upgraded from Win7 to Win10.
But today I decided to give it another go, based on some encouraging leads provided by Stephen Ward. I did a New Printer setup using the 64-bit driver for the 1050C using the Windows Vista 64-bit driver ("HP Designjet 1000 Printer Series HP-GL/2 Driver") found http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=11203559&swItemId=pl_37410_7&swEnvOid=2100&apos ;">here. And it seems to be working fine, complete with color.
Note that I'm still plotting through a print spooler, so I'm not certain that the driver will work over a direct parallel connection.
Thanks, Stephen!
That's a pretty old plotter alright. If it's lasted this long I would say a HP would be the first choice for a new one when the time comes!
