The obvious answer should be yes, they are both trimble, but this instrument was from a couple of years ago when Trimble was trying to force all construction people to use one set of equipment and all surveyors to use another.

The SPS720 is for the construction group, The TSC3 has Access on it and was for the Surveying group.

Thanks,
James

Can't say with any certainty as we are not a Trimble dealer, but you should be able to add the Construction instruments module to your software for a small sum. We have been able to do this in the past with no problems.

See this old thread for more info: https://surveyorconnect.com/community/threads/trimble-access.322215/

I didn't look at the thread linked above but in it's default state Access will not run a construction gun. Or at least it doesn't list them as an option.

Thanks for the answers. I will have to wait until the "Project Manager" ain't looking and mess with it some more. Right now the gun and the DC are not in my possession.

key question is what version of trimble access?
if you are up to date then it will run it no problem.
if it's older than 2014 (i think) then it will need a "construction instruments unlock code". or an update to current version of access may be better value.

I looked at 2017.00 and didn't see SPS total stations listed... are they under a different category, or do you pick VX/S Series?

Hey mate,
The current version of Trimble Access currently works with my SPS730, when connecting you have to select VX or S Series and it goes through the connection routine the same as I would guess it would with an S6 or similar.

I've been told by a dealer though that if you have a CU Controller you can only have either/or of the Trimble Access or SCS900, seems to be the manufacturers way of seperating the market, which is a pain because I'd prefer a screen which is attachable to the jigger. I currently have both software on a 10" tablet, and as far as I'm aware you can replicate this on the TSC3 controller.

I think it is 2016.01 on there now. I will try it again next time I have a chance and don't have as much "help".

Thanks,
James
