Today at work I was surprised that a coworker didn't know that COGO is an acronym for coordinate geometry. I didn't know who originated the acronym. We both figured that it must have coincided with the development of computer software for surveyors. Could it have been Hewlett-Packard? I then thought about all of the software that I've used, seen being used or read about over the years that contain that acronym, such as ProCogo XL, Q-Cogo, QuickCogo, and TDS-COGO48. How about Descartes COGO? Only kidding!
