I have installed Trimble Data Transfer on my Windows 7 Home Premium laptop. I have a Trimble 4000ssi that I would like to download my static files from. Unfortunately Data Transfer is defaulting to the Trimble 4000 option that is set to COM3. I get a server busy warning from windows and I am unable to do anything. So CTRL+ALT+DEL.

If I uninstall the program, shut down, reinstall and then let Data Transfer attempt to connect until a timeout occurs I can actually add a Trimble 4000 which I called "Trimble 4000ssi" on COM7 (the 4000ssi is powered on and this is the correct USB port, I checked it in the device manager). Then if I attempt to connect, the program doesn't respond.

So, does anybody know if there is a way to change the default port in Data Transfer for the Trimble 4000 device?

Also the COM3 port in device manager is listed as "in use", by what, I don't know.

Any work arounds that have been discovered?

I am going to try downloading GPLoad later tonight to see if I can get a connection.
