I had a Promark 220 that is having wifi issues, is there any way to transfer over the software license to the second promark 220? The software specifically is Fast Survey 4.3.3.

?ÿ

As you've indicated in the thread title, this appears to be a rebranded version of Carlson's SurvCE.?ÿ I took a quick look at the registration phone number given in the documentation (606-564-9525) and I'd bet money that it rings straight to Carlson (same area code and prefix as their main support number).?ÿ I know with SurvCE they allow you to move the software to a new device so as long as there aren't contractual restrictions it should be doable.?ÿ ?ÿI doubt the automated software registration can handle the hardware switch so you'll have to get in touch with a human in the morning.?ÿ They're on Eastern time.

Is Carlson the only one who permits this without purchasing another license ($$$$.$$!!!), or do others?

I know WRT the DOT I'm employed with, Carlson's been easy to work with in this regard. There was still a cost involved but it wasn't bad at all. The reason I ask, is I do consider this to be a rather important "feature" as I'm considering purchasing DC software at this time (looking at FG still)...

The only superior evidence is that which you haven't yet found.

Carlson is great about allowing the transfer of field software between data collectors. Sometimes a license will get locked up and your dealer can help get it marked 'clean' again. (Or you can call the factory and explain what is up.)

A dealer can also transfer software from one user to another, so for example if you purchase a data collector from another surveyor it is possible to transfer a SurvCE license to the new user.

However, I need to caution everyone that nearly 100% of the data collectors that are sold on eBay with SurvCE have a 'fake' copy of SurvCE. These licenses show up in the factory database as never having been issued and can not be transferred, updated and no one will provide support for them. So, if you are purchasing a data collector from any source other than a listed dealer or someone you know well, you need to first verify that the license is valid (get a picture of the registration page and call the factory.) My experiences in 2017 and so far this year is that all the SurvCE on eBay is fake. It is so prevalent that Carlson has a hard rule that SurvCE purchased on eBay can not be updated, upgraded...

I can't speak about the DC software licensing, but do know that Carlson will work with you on most things.?ÿ They cleared up some issues I had with some office software licensing, and were very easy and pleasant to deal with.?ÿ I'm a customer for life, and will never switch.

I think I'll start a thread on this topic but of a more general nature software-wise.
