In the past couple of days my Topcon APL1 (yeah I know its old), has been giving me an E53 error code on power up. The error is intermittent and I can usually just cycle the power button and disconnect the battery a few times and it starts up fine. My book says that E50 codes are an abnormality in internal communication system. Does anyone specifically know what the E53 code is?

Thanks,

On my old Set3 that code comes up when the battery is too weak to power the EDM. Normally just clean the contacts with an eraser and it goes away after cycling the power.

Robot Battery Lifespan?

Hmm, I use an external 12 volt battery for this gun. It's a little over 18 months old now. It still giving me a good voltage, but maybe its not keeping up under load. I might just change it out for a new one and see if the situation improves. Just how long would one expect a Robot battery to last?
