I have a few questions about text editing and text masks in Civil3D 2018.?ÿ Is there a setting for the location of the text mask??ÿ The mtext mask seems to be shifted to the right, in the older versions of AutoCad I could grab the grips and move the mask, but trying to edit my text in 2018 it locked up my drawing and I lost what I had been working on.
When I double click the mtext a box pops up to show the groups and when I select mtext it shows the content of mtext, then I click the edit beside the text and the box is covering part of the text, so I have to move the box to see the text and other times it seems to work like the older versions.?ÿ Is there a setting that will let you go straight to text editing when you double click the text?
TIA
Ed
The latest version of C3D I used was 2011, and that was quite a few years ago, so I probably can't help directly. It might help the more up to date commenters for you to clarify if you are talking about:
1. Text Masks, which attach a Wipeout under the TEXT or MTEXT object as a GROUP, or
2. Background Mask, which is a property of MTEXT objects only.
I stopped using Text Masks when Background Mask became available, as I found them to be very temperamental. Any time I need to mask a TEXT object, I convert it to MTEXT, then set the Background Mask property to ON. With Background Masks, a double click brings up the editor without making you chose from objects in a group, because there is only one object being picked.
Text mask is in the toolspace/properties?ÿ window. Click on the text and look over at the toolspace/properties window. The mask is in that window, may have to scroll down just a bit.

Thanks Peter, it look like I need to start using background masks.
