Has anyone used the new hybrid part of surv ce 6.0 thoughts how does it work
I have not used 6.0 or the hybrid module. But I had a Carlson rep at my office yesterday and we talked about hybrid some. From what I gather it allows for simultaneous collection of TS and GPS on a single point, GPS receiver is mounted on top of the prism. I invision the Robot using GPS to track the prism position with TS and GPS data on each point observed or either TS or GPS data where both aren??t available. The redundancy of two simultaneous measurements from two different sources and the ability to have an alternate source of measurement on the fly interests me.?ÿ
I would also like to hear from someone that has experience with hybrid.?ÿ
I am very interested in it so I run a topcon robot are you saying I wouldn't need the rc anymore if I had the hybrid system correct? I tried to download demo but collector want support version 6.0.
I ordered the 6.0 update and the prism that allows for mounting a receiver on top. Waiting for delivery.
I've been doing everything I can to minimize weight at the rod and now I go adding a GPS receiver.?ÿ
The plan is only to utilize it in those tough line-of sight situations in order to save me a setup or two.
Wish me luck.

Well let us know how it works I??m interested in the tracking part of it maybe I can do away with the rc unit?ÿ
I don't use Carlson, but I use Hybrid with Magnet Field. It works best with Sokkia GCX3. The Bullet is very lightweight, long battery and no external?ÿantenna. Working with a Hiper V on top of the prism is about the maximum weight I would want. Too top heavy. Also should note, that I no longer carry the DC on the pole. I have been using shoulder mount case to place DC in front me, on chest. Keeping the pole lighter, and hands free?ÿafter setting bipod. Magnet has a single button to switch between GPS and EDM. When you do a resection using?ÿthe hybrid,?ÿonly?ÿneed to set on each point just once. You take RTK, then?ÿEDM readings at same occupation. Once the instrument has it's backsight check, you can use the GPS as an RC. Much faster, as the Totalstation knows exactly where to turn to the RTK position.?ÿ
- I think one way to stay light would be to add a RTN Rover antenna instead of a full blown receiver with all the bells and whistles.?ÿ

Any suggestion for choosing a RTN Rover antenna?
Is that a low cost L1 receiver??ÿ
