Hi, last friday we had a good Carlson Demo (RT4 with keyboard + BRx7 + GeoMax). I allready mailed the dealer here in Belgium/Netherlands but will ask here also.
Since we're used to Trimble we had no earlier experience with the SurvPC software.
What is your prefered way to edit prism or antenne heights in the field. Let's say you changed rod height for 2 points, then back to standard height but you forgot to key in the standard height and need to modify the last 3 points you shot with the wrong height.
Taking shots with the Brx7 was fast, with the GeoMax Totalstation that was slow, even in tracking it took 2-3 seconds to store a point. My guess is the software was not configured for max. speed. I read in the manual you can configure to store the last tracking measurement or set it to take a new measuement. My guess is that even for a new measurement 2-3 sec is a lot, is that correct? What are the settings to take totalstation shots at high speed?
The connection of the RT4 to the prism pole was not optimal and difficult to adjust with 1 screw to adjust 2 ball clamps, but another model should be?ÿ available.
Any other tips or insights are welcome.
Christof.
It has been a while, back to the Allegro/1200 days. For rod bust you can edit the raw easily enough. Carlson has a very robust raw edit and process capacity.?ÿ
Not sure of the setting for shot taking but multiple seconds sounds like an incorrect setting or a problem with the soft. There are shortcomings that happen when driving instruments with third party software, I doubt they will ever go away, probably quite the opposite.
Like all software I suppose, many gems are under hyped in the support literature. I especially like the point staking versatility and the pt number to pt number cogo settings for azimuth calcs etc.
Chris,?ÿ I've found the same... The BRX7 seems nearly amazing.?ÿ But the geomax robot is equally amazingly frustrating and slow.?ÿ I am really having trouble working out the passive prism/search options.?ÿ It will be locked and take a shot, then before I even move it will say it's lost the prism.?ÿ WTF??ÿ ?ÿ Having come from the Trimble S6 active prism world, I just don't know if this is the instrument for my long term health.?ÿ ?ÿ
Andy, we're still working with the S6 and Active prism and love it, fast and robust.
There are a lot of settings in survPC regarding tracking, locking and storing a measurement, I hope there was a bad setting on our demo and the Geomax-SurvPC is able to store points much faster.
Here is a passage of the SurvPC manual about confifuring the Leica 1200. The Geomax robot we had was an equivalent of the Leica TS16, newer then the 1200 so it can't be slower in my opinion.
I hope to learn here how to get it right.
Instrument button in the bottom right corner should bring you to a new temporary page where you can search, turn to a specified point .. and a *Settings* button where you can switch between fast, tracking, standard, or average measurements.

I was wondering if You've ever heard of anyone having issues with a Trimble S-series not applying the specified prism offset when returning a distance. Currently digging into this issue.
?ÿ
The geomax zoom90 is more a Leica TS15 of which the current TS13 is a closer match than the TS16.
I run the zoom90 (and a pair of zenith40s) with xpad and every bit as quick/accurate as TS15/smartworx viva I've also used a bit

In what field software? I've always worked in Survey Controller and Access and never had any problems with prism constants.
When you work in other software you may need some research to check if it is applied, once, or 2 times or not at all.

I've been running them for about ten years now, and have not had a problem with the S-series returning anything other than the raw measurements. The newer models, at least, are all configured so that prism constants or any other offsets are applied outside of the instrument, at the DC.
I've only had trouble when running Leica instruments with other software. That plus the screwy "zero prism constant that really means -34.4mm" made for a major headache.
?ÿ
Trimble Access. The issue is with using a -30mm on the backsight. The raw measurements through the instrument are correct, the correction(s) for the prism are the problem.
Foresights are correct with either a -30mm, or a +10mm, in the stake, or topo, modes.

I??ve never noticed this, but we rarely use the traverse set with the -30 prisms.
that??s mostly for small deformation projects where we always had a tight closed traverse.
Make sure your Access and firmware for S6 is up to date.
do you export to TBC?
you may make a jxl file to investigate further, that??s readable data with a good editor.
If confirmed file a bug report to Trimble.
There are a lot of Trimble users here with this equipment, start a new post here about the problem and you??re issue will probably solved in a couple of days.
Hello everyone,
I am a new user, a licensed surveyor from Poland. I mainly deal with construction services and topography. I join the topic because I use Survpc on a daily basis with several robots - Topcon Ps, DS and the old Sokkia SRX. Everything works smoothly, I did not notice any slowdowns.
Unfortunately, only the Sokkia IX comes into play from the new models

ps. sorry for my wooden english

Yep. But note that elevations will stay unfixed, even after reprocessing raw data, in ASCII and shapefile exports (seen on 6.09)
@maciekk?ÿ
Just clarifying, did you have issues with the Sokkia iX with Carlson? I had to use one for a year by myself with Microsurvey Fieldgenius and neither Microsurvey or Sokkia could make it run properly with that software. I was forced to use Magnet field which made it a lot better, but still bad, and much worse for the office using Microsurvey.?ÿ
It works manually okay with Fieldgenius but as a robot it was barely functional.?ÿ
