Engineer: Can you give me a fee for a GIS deliverable on the utility information?
Surveyor: I'm going to need some idea of what it is they're exactly looking for
Twenty minutes later....
Engineer: Any number on the GIS?
Surveyor: Sure; somewhere between $2,000 if we're just converting the line work to shape files and $30,000 if we're fully attributing everything and developing the schema for them.
That's the larger firm version of "how much for a survey?"
Silly people ask the silliest questions. They may be highly intelligent people, but, when it comes to something outside of their personal specialty, they are simply silly people. Trying to fake it rarely works out well in the long run.
Okay, so $2,000 then. I will just plug that number in right over here. Your name again is "TTHS" (the top hat surveyor) right?
