Maybe the newer versions of [REDACTED] would do it. I use it to make snippets of mosaics. It seems pretty robust and not too expensive.

Sounds like a good possibility. I was looking at Drone Mapper but it isnt compatible to Windows 7 Pro. I will certainly take a look. Thanks!

Upgrading to Windows 10 from 7pro was free for me. It's a world better than 8, actually just as good as 7 pro was.

I am going to buy new computer this year. I always have a hassle in transferring my propriatory surveying programs to a new operating system. I have some old programs like TDS DXM (Foresight?), Topcon Tools, and tons of older programs I still use that won't work. I am thinking about keeping it beside the new computer and having both working. Doe the new windows 10 allow old software to work?

We are about to switch to fiber and even now we have a good download. I also have an intern who can be tasked with downloading everything you want. We can slap it on a Hard drive and ship it to you, so put that in the message and I can see what we can do.

From my experience, yes. I have gotten TGO and Leica programs to run, when it was not easy getting them to run on 7. On my main computer, when I upgraded from 7 to 10, no programs stopped working. Im sure there's going to be something that give an issue. There always is.

Cheap is not the answer, maybe beating the path to retirement is the answer, hope that does not sound rude.
In today's business forum reliable and fast internet connections are essential and are not free. Expenses like that should be factored into your pricing structure as overhead.
Buying a drone and not buying the software/OS to support the desired results seems much like buying a new car without the drive train or buying a Total Station and Data Collector without the processing software. Sure, the end result is that you got it cheap but in the end game you defeated the purpose of the purchase because you can't effectively use it.
I always cringe when I see a fellow Professional doing business with an email address ending with @Hotmail.com, at google.com or any free email service. It also makes me cringe to see that people are quickly jumping into the drone, uav, whatever you call it market and trying to figure things out along the way without being properly trained in collection and processing before offering the service. That will have a negative impact on out profession when the delivered product is not up to par with the expressed needs of the client, or, even worse, a bad product based on lack of experience and training.
I appreciate the response and lecture on doing survey business. I never sacrifice my qualitity of services for a profession that I still love. Maybe sometimes the gripperss need to look in the mirror. They may find some issues of there own.
By the way thanks for the advise on Windows 10. I am upgrading my office and plan to upgrade my computers. Also, I do not plan on using my drone for any paid services or compensation of my business. I look at the aerial photographs as an upgrade to Google Earth Pro in placing in the layers of my autocad drawings. Also, I have the fastest internet speed offered in my location as per ATT tech support in my town. I really do appreciate your positive response. Thanks.

Eventually, I think you'll be wanting faster internet. Though I don't have it, nor need it, there is satellite internet.
Last i heard, it costs some 80$ a month, and it's not as fast as dsl.
But, as life is, cost comes down, and speed goes up...

The only reason to move to Win7 or above is to connect to the internet.
As long as there is an XP that is operational, you can continue to use them offline with your ancient programs and if it is up to date with SP3 then you can run many of the older DOS programs.
I have several XPs in operation.
One Win7Pro 64 that connects to two different wireless systems, one to be on the internet and the other to connect to the XP wireless system with printer connection.
WindowsCE is still around in many data collectors.
Until the board is fried, they still get the job done.

I had ATT DSL and they recommended me to go to ATT Uverse. Neither one is fast as I want. I also have a couple of old Nomads with Spectre Precision Pro (5.2) Surveyor (Robotics and GNNS). I still use WindowsCE but have used a newer version from trimble for downloads. Windows 7Pro has been a work horse, and Carlson Survey serves me well along with 3 large monitors side by side. My drone really has helped me with timber land tracts. My part of the world is big timber country and Google Earth photo updates take forever. I do look forward to a new Dell Precision Work Station and 3 extra large monitors for my work. Life is good!

Do you have a smart phone? Take a few photos with the GPS on and just drag and drop them into the program. Use the i and click them to open them in a viewer. It's a very easy way to locate all of your photos and it's just cool.

The i button for information. If you drag and drop photos with embedded geo reference, they will pop into the right spot. Then you use edit, right click, move..., and put it in the real right spot.

Dan you're as up to date with technology and life as the rest of us! Maybe ahead in some aspects. I'm not sure I'd agree with anyone still using Windows XP, but I hung on to 7 until my dad came to visit and upgraded me to 10 without really asking. All of my fears turned out to be wrong and I learned I am just as well off with 10. There's lots of reasons new stuff comes out, but it's mainly because it's better than the old....Not always though, but lots of times.....Like TBC over TGO, and cable internet over dial up service (or satalite, if you're far from cables)
