Try Listing Points First To See Where The crd File Is

Then check your crd linking options, you may have something turned off or set funny.

Then check your permissions, crd files are constantly being changed, and Windows just does not like change that it is not in control of.

OK. So you went under POINTS and created a new coordinate file with the desired name and stored where you want it?
Then you went to DRAW/LOCATE POINTS and set up how you wanted the points and set the Starting Point Number to the value you want to start at, then you went to the lower left corner of that pulldown to ENTER & ASSIGN and followed the prompts? And nothing happened?
Or did you key in the Easting comma Northing and waited for something to happen?

First Set A crd File

"Points" pulldown
enter
"Set Coordinate File"
enter
"New"
enter

It should default to your drawing name with a crd extension

Note the "recent folders" line. The choice usually is CarlsonData or CarlsonWork"the folder your drawing is in".

Then go to
"Draw-Locate Points"
"Enter and Assign" to type in coordinates
"Screen Pick" to put points on existing linework

If you have a "asc" of "txt" coordinate file go to
"Import Text/ASCII File"
After they are added to the crd file

Use
"Draw-Locate Points"
"Draw Range" "Draw All" "Draw Point Group"

The rest you pick up as you go.

I prefer the later, the surveyor I work with prefers the former.

>to ENTER & ASSIGN

That sure brings back memories: EA was the command used by LLCOGO for the same purpose.

I first used LLCOGO in 1989, and bought my own copy when I went into business in 1993. I still have it installed on my XP machine, which I keep around to run software that Windows 7 won't. But I rarely fire up the XP box anymore, and haven't used LLCOGO for any real work in some years now.

EA was a command I first used with Simplicity in the late 80's. Probably when Carlson bought them out they incorporated it into their programs.

First Set A crd File

If you are going to be entering a quanity of points, I like to use "edit points". To start off from a new coordinate file just hit under edit "insert row" and you can start entering your coordinates and see them as you go.

This is how I enter most of my coordinates if I'm doing more than 1 or 2.
