Is there a better option for point management than the Autodesk or Carlson methods? They are like a steering wheel on my boxers... they drive me nuts.
If not, I need to enhance my VB and MDB skills.
Not sure what you mean on point management. For most jobs, they're small and it's not a problem. For my files with 20k points for 30 years of work, point groups work very well for hubs, wells, etc. Still not sure where you're going with it though.
we reuse and recycle and re-charge for old data. my biggest problem is that i have most of this data in different locations. i typically compile traverses together using various methods, but simple renumbering just makes referencing field notes cumbersome.
i like the topcon tools list where an original point number is retained in a field when the actual point is renumbered, but i only have the GPS licenses of topcon tools. i have never tried the TS adjustments with tools and I am presented with a slight issue with pre-data collector data.
i want it all in one spot, but i do not want to lose my hair getting it there.
Set up feature codes and assign layers to the descriptors. Setting up layer states helps too.
Try 12D. Point ID's don't mean anything. It's all unique strings.
