I'm working on a drawing in Carlson CES w/acad engine. I imported my points and realized that I needed to translated/rotate to a different set of points that I had used in the field. I erased my old, calculated points from the drawing so I could work with my field data, locked my record data layer, brought the points back and did the T/R. When I went to check that the points were where they should be, it was as if I hadn't done the T/R. Then I noticed that the point info (symbol, number, description, node) had indeed moved, but had left behind a tiny relic. It is maybe 1 pixel in size and can be selected just like a point, but does not appear to have a point number. If I draw a line by number it uses the T/R'd value, but if I draw a line by node I can select either "point".
A little disconcerting.
Any ideas?
I believe those are left over if you have the nodes on seperate layers. I have erased points like that and had the node layer off and once that layer gets turned on you will see those dots. i just simply erased them and went on with no further problems.
JB,
Did you update your point file after you did the T/R? those may be left as "place holders" in the point file.
Just a guess, but I once forgot to update the point file after I did a T/R, and got back out in the field with everything messed up. This was right after I started using Carlson Survey back in 2007.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
I did "update crd fom drawing".
Everything moved fine, it just left a bit behind.
Also make sure that your PDMODE is set 0 (zero). I think you may find that is your problem.
Go to the Carlson website discussion groupe and look under the Survey w/embeddewd AutoCad section. There's a thread there with a topic of "Bits and Pieces". It's a hodgepodge of things I have run across and how I fixed them. See if any of that helps clear up anything or if there is anything there that you might find useful.
I bet it is the node from the points you moved. See if your snaps will snap to a node on thr T/R points. Well, if you updated the crd file from drawing it might have created new nodes under the moved points. I dunno, just a guess... Good luck.
One command I really like about this software is the layer inspector. It only takes a short time to go through the layers one by one and confirm how many and which entities are on each layer. It makes it easy and fast to do a quick quality control on the drawing and find out if some unwanted entities are still present.
This command quickly highlights layers in need of housekeeping (such as those little nodes that I may not have deleted properly) as I work along and helps keeping drawings clean.
