I am a surveyor in California and our recorded maps are required to be 18"X26".?ÿ The black 'box border' is 16x24 with a 1" blank border.?ÿ For some years the plan checkers have asked for submittal with PDF files during the plan check process.?ÿ But the rules about exact sheet size etc. were only applied to the final mylar, not the PDF.?ÿ Now the PDF file is being taken as a formal submittal itself and it has to be exact.?ÿ ?ÿSo if you have a dimension of 100' on the map it has to list out exactly 100' when they look at the PDF file on their computer.?ÿ And the one inch border has to be exactly one inch.?ÿ Of course 18x26 is an odd size and it does not seem to be supported by any PDF converter, or printer, working in AutoCad that I know of.?ÿ Does anyone know of a way to plot to a PDF sheet size of 18"x26" in Autocad (or Intellicad)??ÿ Any help would be appreciated.

In Adobe PDF Printer, there is an option for Postscript Custom Page where you can set the sheet dimension. I have tried it up to 20"x30" without any problems.

I crop the PDF after printing to get it to 18"x26".?ÿ But what I'm not understanding is how a line dimensioned as 100' would list as 100' unless it was plotted at 1:1.?ÿ (I have yet to submit a ROS plotted at 1:1.)

Interesting that they still want the extra 2" for the PDF.?ÿ I was under the impression it was for hanging in the drawings.?ÿ Anyway you can easily create a custom plot size in most PDF software as well as in AutoCAD under the plotter properties.

@jim-frame  Yes Jim,  You are correct.  The plan checkers is apparently using the map scale to calculate the distance.  So for 100' at 20 scale, for example, they are expecting to get 5 inches as the distance on the PDF file.  Great suggestion to crop after printing.
