So I made the switch to Carlson/intellicad. All my drawings are LDD2 acadr14. When I open a drawing I can see the points, but not able to make them Carlson points. I created a Carlson .crd file using update crd file from drawing, but it is empty. Tried the convert points routine; from LDD, from civil3d, from softdesk. Only from softdesk seemed to recognize the points (listed 3200+- found), but none worked to populate the Carlson point database, it's still empty.

Can anyone tell me the procedure to accomplish this? Thanks!

I'm running Carlson Survey 2013 on AutoCAD 2013 and I can't find anything older than a LDD2/AutoCAD 2000 file to experiment with so your mileage may vary.

The below choices/settings get it done for me but you might have to pick block rather than custom entities depending on how Softdesk handled points in AutoCAD 14.

Convert LDT/Civil 3d to Carlson, Custom, AutoDesk

Edit: Send me the file or a link and I'll be happy to take a crack at it. Stephen at ward land surveying dot com

I'm pretty sure the way I have done it is POINTS-CONVERT POINT FORMAT- SOFTDESK TO CARLSON POINTS. You have to set your coordinate file first..

Most Likely The Point Groups Are Dissassociated

i.e. point number, point description and point are not linked. If you pick on the point number and the point symbol and point description do not highlight, that is the reason.

I often have that problem even bringing a Carlson 14 drawing into newer versions.

The easiest fix is to bring in the points via a .txt or .asc file.

I have used brute force one point at a time but do not recommend it to friends.

I just received the following email from Vladimir Epifanov with Carlson that may fix the issues you were having converting LDD points.

The new Carlson 2014 / IntelliCAD 7.2 build (140602) is now available for testing.

Some example of fixes included to the new build:
-- Fixed issue with storing toolbars positions
-- Fixes for deadlocks and crashes in HATCH
-- Fixes for Civil3D points and surfaces conversion
-- Fixed some printing issues
-- Several crash fixes and lots of other fixes for IntelliCAD and Carlson2014

Please let us know if you encounter any issue which will have to be fixed immediately or other issues which are new.
As always, if this build is problematic, the older patch can be used to restore.

Carlson 2014 update (140602):
http://files.carlsonsw.com/mirror/patches/carlson2014/Carlson2014.exe (full install)
or
http://files.carlsonsw.com/mirror/patches/carlson2014/Carlson2014Update_icad7_install.exe (patch)

Thank you,
Vladimir
