I was shooting a topo job and mistakenly call my instrument set up point "200" while backsighting "100".?ÿ When in reality, I was set up on "201" backsighting "100".?ÿ ?ÿI tried to go in and edit points on the DC using the "points manager"?ÿ as I have edited points in the past, but it will not let me edit the points since it "Contains 1 or more backsight observations".?ÿ ?ÿWe shot a lot of points today and I'd be grateful if I could get some help on how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
Just log in the written field book. The disaster you're facing if you try to delete it and or rename it can ruin the day's work.
You're able to fix in TBC when you bring in the points.
Edit the code and description in the DC and flag it for when you're doing your QC. The software sometimes gets in the way of the easy fix mostly because if you can do it easier you going to have people screwing all sorts of things up then you'll really have mess.
Mistakes are part of life. Not learning from our mistakes is an indication we're not trying hard enough.
Because I NEVER misnamed a point ever.?ÿ Nope not me.?ÿ ???? ???? ?????ÿ

Thanks Jitter!?ÿ However, can I fix the points in Civil3D or another software??ÿ I actually don't have TBC.
@firestix CREATE A COPY OF THE JOB FIRST.

Then use Key in Point, key in 200 as the Point number and it will complain that 200 already exists, but will populate the fields with the NEZ for 200. Now just give it a new name like 210A. Now go into Cogo, Trasformations, and check the boxes for translate & rotate. Your rotation Point will be 210A, your existing AZ will be 210A-100 & the new AZ will be 210-100. In the translate screen, pick the Two Points method, with 210A being the from pt & 210 being the to pt. In the next screen be sure to select 210A and all shots taken from that set-up. Close your eyes and hit the go button and answer yes when it asks if you're sure.
Yes. The raw data regardless of naming convention is what you care about most.
You can even just change the point number or name in the output data file off the DC to avoid corruption of the coordinate data.
Then if and when you hit the field for the next day or phase you can have the correct name in the uploaded file and continue one with the remaining work going forward.
Thanks guys.?ÿ I'll make the copy first and try the renaming, translating, and rotating!

You can??t change those point numbers in TA, but you can in TBC. Did you not notice errors when you measured to the back site.
Unfortunately I was being swarmed by yellow flies and the property owner's daughters were asking 20 questions a minute.?ÿ It was not one of my best days.

@robertusa It's probably cleaner to fix it in TBC, but he can absolutely fix the coordinates by creating a duplicate of point 200 then translating and rotating to get the shots where they should have been.?ÿ I've never had to use it to fix a blown OP/BS but I translate/rotate in Trimble Access all the time.?ÿ Sometimes I pull calculated stuff from the office into points located in the field.?ÿ Other times I'll go the other way and set the S7 on assumed coordinates and use a zero azimuth to where ever the backsight happens to be, then translate and rotate the field shots into the calculated boundary from the office.
