Someone gave me a drawing with some points in it for a concrete spillway asbuilt. I believe they are made with LDD or some other program.

The entities just show up as a box and text "AECCDBCOGOPT"

I am running Carlson w/Intellicad 2014.

Any help converting this file would be appreciated. Thanks

Look under Points, Convert Point Format, Convert LDT/Civil 3D to Carlson Points then follow the prompts. I just select everything in the drawing and let the routine filter out everything but the points. If that doesn't take care of it send it to stephen AT ward land surveying dot com (remove spaces of course).

I believe that those are Civil 3d point objects. Depending on which version of C3d created them you may have problems converting with Carlson. Shoot me an email if you get stuck, I have the current version if needed.

I think the ideal thing to ask for is a DWG file and a LandXML export. Between the two of them most people can extract anything they need.

Of course that's just asking, and sadly receiving might end up as a PDF.

LandXML has been around for at least a decade and still most people in the business, especially at the project manager level, don't even know it exists.

Yup...they don't have to deal with the data directly. If they did, it wouldn't take long for them to get up to speed.
