Indeed.

But you can root it to get around that. Unfortunately, that likely means you are voiding your warranty as well.

Nexus 7

Get a Nexus... they get the updates first. I have the Nexus 5 (phone) and it runs 4.4, which is not a huge difference from 4.3. I do like the "OK Google" feature!

iPads/Tablets - ruggedized cases?

HWMBO (yeah, right) has occasionally mentioned acquiring a tablet (Apple / Google is still to be decided) for use by our toddler twins. So what does this have to do with surveying? One is a tosser. :-O

Even under supervision, it's going to get dropped and likely flung. Much like what sometimes happens to other devices in this industry. To try to maximize usability, I was wondering if anyone could recommend ruggedized cases or any companies that I should focus on.

iPads/Tablets - ruggedized cases?

I know that Otterbox makes a case for the Nook Color. You might see if they have one for other tablets as well.

I have a Nook Color, and have it set up to dual boot. I am running Cygenmod 7. I basically use it for basic web browsing, and light word processing at times. I have an extra case for it that has an external keyboard. It is pretty slick.

I can boot into the standard Nook software, or the android. It works for me.

I am thinking about getting a Nook HD+ (the 10" screen) as well.

iPads/Tablets - ruggedized cases?

Bought a hi-sense 7 inch tablet for 80 bucks.

For the money it is a steal.

Works for me around the house with wi-fi.

It does everything that Janice's $400 Ipad does.

Got it at Walmart.

All I can say is that after getting my Iphone and one of my employees also getting one at about the same time we both can't wait to get rid of the darn things-he even went so far as to take his back and get a "reconditioned" one and it's just as awful. In two months I get rid of mine and going with anything else.

No Ipad for me!!!!

Son has a Galaxy and really likes it.
