... and wondering if any of you folks would like me to do anything in particular as a test? The main point of this demo is to see how well it runs on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, and so far so good! But I think the true test would be to get some suggestions from you. Further, if you have a nice drawing you'd like to send, I'd love to load it up and see how it does. Thanks!

For the sake of comparison, here's a screen shot of SurveyorConnect to give you an idea of just how much desktop space you have available (note that the forum downsizes the images but you can compare this with your actual screen).
Want to see what a Surface Pro 3 looks like in the wild? Here's a photo album you should be able to see even if you don't have a Facebook account:
In touch screen mode, can you pinch to zoom?
How do you "right click" in touch screen mode?
I have loaded the demo on a Panasonic ToughPad and loads fine. I think Carlson needs to adapt some touch screen methods.

can you select points with the stylus? Draw selection windows? Does it ever slow down with a big file?
Wow, that's fantastic. You might play around with View>Realtime Sphere. It allows you to rotate the perspective in 3D. Should be a nice test of the 3D graphics capability.
Thank you for the questions!
> In touch screen mode, can you pinch to zoom?
Yes, it does work. It's not a smooth zoom like you might experience in, for instance, a browser window. It zooms in "steps". Not huge steps mind you, just not smooth like I'm used to on a touch screen device. Certainly not a bad experience, however.
Before zoom:
After one zoom step:
> How do you "right click" in touch screen mode?
Tap and hold on the screen and the right menu appears.

Fortunately, you can adjust the size of everything on the screen in Windows 8.1. In the Display settings, you just move a slider up or down to make the adjustment. With the default settings, the buttons in Carlson are pretty tiny. One notch up and they are a bit better and there's still one more setting bigger than that.
> can you select points with the stylus?
Yes. When I tap on them, the point group is selected and the handles appear. I also tried doing things with the stylus buttons, but they don't seem to have any effect.
> Draw selection windows?
Drawing selection windows with the stylus and with touch act the same way.
> Does it ever slow down with a big file?
I don't have any big files to test, so I'm not really sure yet.

Well, this sample file I'm using is pretty basic, but the sphere feature is working nicely.
