I have had a T120 plotter for many years. All of a sudden it starts popping up a message on my desktop, and making an annoying notification sound. When I click it, it very quickly pops something up top, then disappears. It does this about every 3 minutes. I have tried rebooting, resetting the plotter network, nothing seems to work.?ÿ

?ÿ

I don't want to turn off the printer, last time I did that the print heads got clogged and I had to replace them, and was told to always leave it on.

It is a little tricky if I remember correctly but when I bought my T120 I went out of my way to make sure I install the driver only, those "helpful" free software suites they always try to give you are the worst!?ÿ I turn mine off regularly because I only print a few times a month, and have never seen any issues from it??ÿ The only issue I did have (similar to yours) is when the power was off for a couple days and the temperature in the office got below freezing.

I checked task manager, and cannot see anything that would do that. In the past, there were several "HPxxx" entries in there. It is weird that it just started doing this seemingly out of the blue.?ÿ

I used to hate my T120 with a passion.?ÿ Last fall I installed a new driver which shows up as "HP DesignJet t120 V4" in Control Panel>Devices and Printers.?ÿ It's still a tad quirky, but exponentially better than it was.

SWMBO hasn't had to cover her delicate ears since then - no more tirades.

@sergeant-schultz

I'd heard the 110s were problematic, and was hesitant to grab a 120 because of that - but we've never had one issue with ours.  To be fair it is one an isolated Windows XP machine.  We just take PDFs via thumb drive to print.  Downloading the Leica and plotting are the only reasons we still keep that machine.  I'd love to learn how to clone the HDD onto an SSD, but I don't think it is a SATA.  It is IDE I think.
