We have a Topcon FC-120 without TopSurv.

I loaded an old seat of Carlson SurvCE on the unit. It works just fine.

So now I want to try bluetooth connection but I cannot find bluetooth as a COM port.

I've looked at the TopCon BlueTooth Manager, but I find no way to set this up as a COM.

I do have a socket card hanging around I can load up, but it seems silly to have two Bluetooth transmitters in one collector.

Any ideas or should I RTFM?

Are you trying to connect to a PC or an instrument? If an instrument, what brand and model?

Linking the fc 120 to a topcon gpt series. I can get the btmanager to link the TS but SurvCe does not seem to see anything to talk. It is survce 2.6 or so. I may just install the socket and be done. Then I won't have to keep track of an old socket card.

My FC-2500 uses Topcon's btmanager and SurvCE works fine. What specific model GPT are you trying to connect with and I'll take look at mine to see if a setting jumps out at me.

Back in the office with my DC in front of me.

Under the Comms tab, what "BT type" are you using? Mine is set to "Atinav" and shows both "device" and "port" fields below. If I switch BT Type to "Microsoft" I lose the "port" field and if I switch to "Generic" I lose the "device" field.

If yours has the BT Type "Atinav" available I'd try switching to it, then hit the set-up button to the right (crossed hammer and wrench) and select your device if it's shown or click "find device"

I am actually helping out an engineer friend with his DC. I thought I would just walk in and BAM, but we will see...

He has SurvCE 1.67 connecting to a GPT 2000. I was able to get BTManager to communicate with the TS, but SurvCE was the downfall. I recall seeing the screen with the pull down and 4 options, and I did go through them quickly, but I did not have the time to try them all.

The important thing is I know it can work. For that I thank you. I will continue on and RTFM...

My brother works with computers. He started a job with a very curt boss. 1st phone call came in; the caller subscribed to the dialup they provided but had questions regarding his Compaq Desktop. My brother puts the man on hold, explains the situation to his curt boss who responds "This guy calls all the time with these questions, if you cannot get him off the phone in under 5 minutes you are worthless to me and fired."

My brother gets back on the line and explains to the man "You need to call compaq, I know you will be stuck on the line for a while, but I know the problem. Tell the guy on the other end you have a RTFM error. If he does not know this error ask for his supervisor and work you way up the chain until you find someone who knows what a RTFM error is."

At this point there were a few people around my brothers' desk; everyone wanted to know what a RTFM error was. He gladly explained "Read the F-ing Manual".

The man never called the shop again.

When my brother left the company to return to school they gave him a T-Shirt that read 'RTFM'.
