If let my plotter sit unused for a few days, the print heads get stopped up, and I have to go through the cleaning process, which takes about 15 minutes and uses a lot of ink. I called tech support about it, and they told me that the printer had to be used every day. I wish I had known that when I was deciding to buy it. I think I am using more ink doing cleanings than I am printing.

Have any of you seen this on the T7000?

Have you tried sending a small test page instead? It might get them flowing again.

sounds right. I had a CANON i9900 photo printer. 8 different ink cartridges. Used occasionally and was always needinc cleaning. was told they are designed to be used daily. I have an older Brother that has 3 color and 1 black and produces beautiful photos. Never needs cleaning. We need to go back to older technology.

Yes, I did. But if I let it sit over the weekend, it clogs. This everyday use is a pain, and it was not in the specs. I never really had any print quality issues with my HP plotters, and I wish I had not changed to Epson. Epson tech support said I needed to plot every day!

Later, I went to chat tech support, and the tech told me that he had never heard of the print heads gumming up by not plotting regularly; that my complaint was the first one he had heard. ????

Wow! I haven't seen this myself, but; I purchased a new plotter about 6 months ago. I was very interested in the Epson T-series (T3000) and was about to pull the trigger on one when I queried the salesperson about the differences between the Epson and the comparable HP T790. I asked him specifically about this issue as I use my plotter about once a week, sometimes less frequently. He explained that the HP was self cleaning and that I may experience issues with the Epson if I use it as infrequently as I stated.

I hate having to battle plotter issues. It usually happens when you have something that needed to be delivered yesterday...

I hope you find a solution.

Could you set up some automation to print a small page every day, something with the base colors to keep each one from drying. I know it's a waste but a tiny partial page each day may be less than the amount used on the self test. At least it would be ready if a customer wanted a plot quickly.

Or you could sell it to someone that would work it everyday!

I had a 24" cannon IPG 650 after a HP 330 that went 7-8 years with zero maintenance
then the crap cannon takes $750 to fill with ink and a print head at $600 first year
the cannon was a ink hog and the heads flawed.

After two years for a $2700.00 i dumped the crap cannon on the front steps of the
local cannon service depot and said have your junk back.

Went back to HP designjet 111 plotter no problems.

In fact everything in this room is going to be HP very soon
ready to dump the flimsy temperamental Brother "bother" MFC-J6510dw and get a hp 11*17
scanner and a 11*17 printer.

These all in ones do to much and all a guy really needs is a 11*17 scanner and
11*17 printer.

The HP111 a real small shop work horse a bit slow say 20 plots/day max if you require
