My current cloud storage, Ubuntu One, is going west in a couple of months and I'm looking for a recommendation for another free or a low cost alternative.

So far, my only real use is to store my encrypted password file so it is available without using a thumbdrive, but I can envision backup of current project files. Currently Ubuntu One provides 3Gb so I'm probably looking at something like that for capacity. I place the files I want to store on the U1 folder and they are automatically stored in the cloud. It's simple and I get to control what gets stored.

We use dropbox. They also have a free option. I have also noticed many more of our clients beginning to use it.

Aloha, Dropbox is great. You can also get additional free 500MB every time you refer someone and they register. Invite all your employees you'll get few more extra GBs. 😀 However, I think there is limit to it.

Anyone using Spectra Precision Survey Pro 5.4 can save files directly to their Dropbox folder! Not sure about earlier version of SP...

Since no one else has, I'll give my Dropbox referral link that will benefit both me and any new user by providing a little more free storage.

Dropbox.

I used Google Drive previously, but I always had updating/syncing delays(maybe just me).
I really like dropbox. You can send files through it, share folders through it, it syncs instantly. I also pay approx. $40 a year for their packrat service. It saves every version of every file and it doesn't count against your total GB.

FYI -- Dropbox works on Survey Pro 5.2.1, also.

I was surprised at ubuntu one being pulled, i used it for personal stuff and sugarsync for work.
since sugarsync started charging I've switched to copy. 15GB free to start plus extra for referrals. works well on linux too, which I guess may be important to you!
My referral link, we'll both get an extra 5GB
