I'm running Carlson 2008 standalone (ACAD) and have imported a bunch of text that was created in paper space in one drawing. The text comes into the new drawing in model space. Can I convert that to paper space text?
Thanks,
Don
The command is CHSPACE, but I don't think it is available in that version. It doesn't work in my version of Carlson 2008.
I didn't think text was specific, in that way...
Can't you just change the text height in the properties dialog box?
you could copy and paste it into paperspace. might need to resize
I found out that I can "insert" into paper space....I don't know why I couldn't at first, but it's all set now..
I don't know how to cut and paste in ACAD.

Highlight, whatever it is you want to copy; pull down the edit tool bar and choose clipboard and copy or copy with base point and it will be on your clipboard. You can now paste it, where ever you want, as many times as you want.
Easy-peasey....B-)

That option doesn't exist in carlson 2008
Edit > Copy > Standard Copy
Copy to Layer
Copy Polyline Section Are my options...
It's not a windows function environment. Do you use Carlson?

> Do you use Carlson?
Yes, I have 2012, I upgraded from 2007 and this is what I have as options now...
I thought the functions were similar to normal copy and paste in 2007 though; CTRL C and CTRL V; right click and copy and paste....
If you highlight something can you use those edit functions you show?
Try opening up 2 different drawings and copying and pasting from one to the other.

Look under
FILE > CLIPBOARD > COPY WITH BASE POINT
How did you Insert to Paper Space? I didn't know you could do that.

I always paste to notepad first, and then copy it out to remove any formatting.
in carlson 2008...select what you want to copy...go to File ...Clipboard..copy...then open paperspace and go to file clipboard paste...alternatively..ctrl c and ctrl v do work..what I often do is open both drawings...copy what i want out of one...click on the other drawing and then paste..i use the paste to original coordinates option quite a bit.

Keep in mind you can use CTRL C and CTRL V to copy anything to anywhere. Once you paste something you can't always use it, but I have been surprised what can be copied. Try highlighting a tiff in windows explorer then hit ctrl c. Go into model space in a drawing and hit ctrl v.
I have Carlson Survey 2008 loaded on top of AutoCAD 2007 and the CHSPCE command works fine. You have to be in a paper space viewport. CHSPACE does not work while you are in model space. Create your viewport, slide in your text and use CHSPACE. It should work.

Got it, thanks Radar!

I created a wblock of what I wanted to insert (it was in paperspace to begin with ) and then just used "insert"..
It was the second time for me to insert the same block, but I exploded the first in model space and then tried it again.. and, bingo, there it was..

UR welcome; is this a great message board, or what...
I'm running 2008 on top of ACAD2007 and do not have the clipboard option. 🙁
Its in there somewhere! try under the edit menu..I use the standalone so it may be different, it used to be under the edit menu..then under the file menu...and in the 2013 its back under the edit menu....
