Could anyone help with the setup of My Surveyor2 running SurvCE 4. I always used Survey Pro in the past and utilized Repetition Shots for running my Traverse. Now with the switch to Carlson and the fact that I am now surveying as a one-man crew I am trying to figure out how to run my Traverse utilizing the SurvCE 4 program. In the past I was always behind the instrument running Traverse by BD/FD/BR/FR now I have no idea how to do the same running Robotically and how to setup the Data Collector to perform this.

I have been currently following this procedure fixed BS target and I run a BD/BR then I would take my side shots for topography or location. When I am ready to Traverse I run a BD/BR check then select T in the program and perform a FD/FR to the new Traverse. I am not sure if this is the correct method to follow Using this Data Collector, I would of thought there was a set collection rather then entering the back sight screen then the side shot screen to select T. Can anyone shed some assistance on the setup.

Kevin

There is a set collection routine, but for traversing with data collection proceed as you have noted.
Only real difference between a sideshot and a traverse shot is that you will (or might) set up on the traverse point, and depending on the scope of the project, maybe you want observations to that point in 2 faces, but also possible that you want some of your sideshots measured in 2 faces.
SurvCE allows you (under Configure - Sets, page 176 of v4 manual) to specify which of backsight, stakeout, topography, resection, you want to measure in F1/F2, so my practice (when scope of project necessitates) is to switch on backsight D&R, and switch on or off the F1/F2 topography D&R for the points that I want to measure in 2 faces or not. Robot will auto turn and measure, angles and distances will average and away you go. I often also have stakeout set on F1/F2 for crosstie traverse measurements or closure checks to redundant/traverse points.

I use the Sets routine when traversing or tying multiple control points. On my Surveyor+ (predecessor to the Surveyor2) it's menu item 8 on the Survey page. I generally run 1 set BSD/BSR/FSD/FSR. If I'm tying multiple points for control without a fixed BS prism, I'll use the last FS point as the new BS point.

I use Store Points (menu item 1) for topo, and only occasionally change the config as described above to shoot D&R to the FS.
