My computer just went through an automatic windows update, and ever since then, my Carlson has been crashing a lot. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas?

I haven't had any issues with Carlson on this computer ever. It's a five year old computer that went through the upgrade from windows 7 to 10, which came with it's own issues, but didn't have any effect on Carlson.

Windows 10 I assume?
I will not be much help, but I suggest that you make a very strong effort to disable those "automatic updates".
my down and dirty method is to:
1. physically disconnect from the internet
2. constant backup of all data and software keys onto a Physically separate storage device.

sorry but here is a True war story:
I installed Windows 10 (from a Microsoft USB) to update the maps in my Garmin device for my car.
It was taking Forever, so I went off to do something else for a while. Big Mistake, my fault.
When I returned I found a glorious announcement popup from Microsoft saying that I had successfully "updated" to some new fancy version. (the Garmin update was also complete)
What had actually happened is that Windows had "reclaimed" "unused disk space" on the same hard drive.... it had Deleted all partitions that were not NTSF format and expanded the various Windows partitions to fill that space. If I had not been super anal about Backups I would have lost a ton of data.
(this was a Fresh Windows 10 install, no product key, never run before)

I might help to know what edition of Carlson, and whether this is OEM, Intellicad, etc.

If you set your internet connection to a 'metered connection' in Windows it should prevent updates as well.

This is part of the cover sheet for a fairly large parcel survey. It's a unit of a much larger holding.

The research was not too taxing for the boundary, as for other issues in the parcel I have a huge stack of paperwork.

We were hired to just do the boundary, there was talk of turning it into an ALTA, that was finally nixed.
