Hi,
Been trying, with limited success, to wean myself off LDD and transition to Carlson, so as to avoid Autodesk and C3D. Now my question (I'll only state one, for now):
Is there any way to configure Carlson so that it uses the LDD/Softdesk point block, or something nearly indistinguishable, from the get-go? Failing in that, is there a way to make Carlson point blocks look like Softdesk, with No., El. & Desc. attributes neatly stacked to the right of the point marker. I don't at all care for the way Carlson point attributes sprawl all over around the point. I guess it's the German need for regimentation, or something......
I've been able to convert Carlson points to Softdesk, after bringing them into the drawing, but I'd like to eliminate that step, as I bring points in and remove them many times in the course of a project.
Thanks,
SS

I looked for it (briefly scanned) but did not see an answer.
Try
POINTS
POINT DEFAULTS
ATTRIBUTE LAYOUT ID 2
I believe the default is 1 and that places the attributes kind of around the symbol

That's correct.
There is a video on the help are of the carlson website that show quite a bit about the points functions. If you have trouble changing the attributes yourself, check out that video.
Carlson Attribute layouts 2 and 5 are defaulted to place the attributes as described. Layout 5 differs from Layout 2 by including a Leroy-style oblique angle to the attributes.
As desired, the various layouts (0 through 9) can be customized to suit specific needs as they are merely block inserts with attribute definitions that are installed with the software. The quickest way to get to the various symbols is to:
1. Exit from Carlson and/or AutoCAD.
2. From the Start button in Windows, click Run.
3. In the Run dialog box, type %AppData% and click OK/Open.
4. Browse/navigate to the Carlson SoftwareCarlson......CADSUP folder.
5. Open and edit any of the srvpnoX.dwg files (where X=LayoutID).
Carlson 2011 points question answered
Many thanks to everyone, and thanks especially for not telling me to RTFM, which I so richly deserved. An old guy like me becomes easily befuddled with all those settings, toggles & radio buttons. Especially since I've had LDD set up to my liking for 12 or so years.
Again thanks!
