I am currrently using Carlson Survey 2008, and I am wanting to insert a block on top of my carlson point. When I freeze my survey points, I want the block to remain.
I am not seeing where this option is. I am currently demoing Carlson Survey 2015 with embedded AutoCad as well, an have been messing around with that F2F, and messed up my original F2F file. Luckily I had a copy backed up.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Your blocks are linked to the points. There are two ways to break this link.
(1) When you go to erase the points from the drawing you are asked 2 questions. "Delete points from coordinate file?" "Delete Point Symbols?" Again answer NO. The blocks should remain.
The only problem that I have with that option is that if at some later time you erase the points and screw up and answer yes to the second option, then ALL of your symbols go away. That's the reason I use Option #2.
(2)I run Field to finish to draw points, lines and symbols. Then when I erase the points from the drawing I instantly go back to Field To Finish and uncheck the point and line block, leaving only the symbols block checked. The symbols are now redrawn and are no longer linked to your points.
Give both ways a try and see which you like the best.
Oh, anytime you modify or customize the field to finish file save it as a new named file. You can create a Cleveland.fld file and select it via the tab at the bottom of the field to finish pull down. The file does NOT have to be named SURV.fld. It's a good idea to do this with any Carlson file that can be "Saved As". That way, should you mess up a file, you have the original to fall back on.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I have been playing around with the F2F quite a bit the past few days. I have tried both methods, and both work. I use the symbol SPT4 for my survey points. When I use method 2, it draws the desired point blocks, but it also draws the normal shots that I don't necessarily need showing up on the final drawing.
Would you suggest using point groups to put the desired point blocks/symbols into a utility group, or something similar, and just process that point group?
The types of blocks I am looking for are:
power poles
sewer manholes
drain maholes
inlets
telephone pedestals
gas valves
water valves
I also have a symbol library of blocks that I used at a former employer, and will be modifying a few of them to work with my current workflow. I have a few desired ones associated with point codes, but there is a scaling problem right now.
Thanks again for th2 F2F information that you sent me awhile back. I have been studying that quite a bit the past few days. It has been very, very helpful.

I suggest you setup your point codes on different layers...freeze the layers you dont want to plot.
Setting up point codes on different layers gives you a gazillion layers and the more layers loaded with data simply slows down the program.
By all means, in your Field To Finish, set up assign the point groups. This will give you the separation and recallability that you are looking for without jumbling up the layer list. The fewer layers the better.
The key to making all of this work well is a well set up drawing template file. The *.dwt file should merge well with your *.fld file. The better these two files talk to each other, the faster things will happen.
