In massaging my project database, I see that many of my projects are missing data in the fields of "city" and/or "zip Code" (the problem with working in such a limited geography.... we tend to not even think of what city a project is in)

While probably 95% of my projects are within two zip codes, I'd like to clean up some of this old data before I begin mapping it for research.

I have street addresses, and a fairly small sample of cities that they might be in. (usually one of two or maybe three) .

Anyone have a spreadsheet or online source for batch zip coding?

Andy

I could send you an old copy of "Zip4" but Florida has so many
new 34XXX codes. It would not be useful. I am sure there is some
shareware out there.

I have a database with over 42k known zip codes.
It is a SQL server database but I might be able to export it to an Excel sheet.
I'll have to investigate.

You could try http://www.findlatitudeandlongitude.com/batch-geocode/ . I used it to get the lat and longs for a few hundred intersections and it worked fairly well. I just did some limited testing to see if it would return a full address from a partial(no city or zip code) address and it worked on all of my limited sample. I did have to add the state to limit the search to a region; however, you could probably add the county to further limit region.

Thanks! I think this is just what I was looking for.

Apparently there is a system to the zip codes. A man named Ben Fry developed an interactive map many years ago called zipdecode. I googled but the map didn't want to work for me just now, I have used it before though.
