So, my Carlson crashed while I was in the middle of a drawing.
I can find the autosave file but I cannot figure out how to change the sv$ extension back to the .dwg extension.
It used to be rather easy but with this latest computer recovery I can't even see the extension, let alone change them.
In addition, the save file location won't even show up in "my computer". I had to do a search and then copy and paste the file back in the job folder.
HELP!
Open Windows Explorer, select the drive where the file is located, press the ALT key to reveal the menu across the top, select Tools, then Folder Options, click on the View Tab, then check the box for "show hidden files, folders, and drives", also uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types", you might also have to uncheck the box for "Hide protected operating system files"
This should reveal all of the stuff that is normally hidden to protect the masses from doing stupid things to their computers.
for the extensions go to windows explorer, click organize, click folder and search options, click view, make sure "hide extensions for known file type" is unchecked.
As an aside, I had a notice this morning from one of my system's checks that my appdata temp folder was holding about 7 gigabytes(!) of files - mostly saved backup files. It's a good idea to clean that booger up from time to time.
you beat me by this much > <
Lol
Yes, but your post taught me a simpler way to get to the same menu. :good:
Thanks a million guys, that was a lot of help! Today ends better than it was an hour ago!
You can designate which folder to save your .sv$ files. Mine are directed to a folder I called "Autosave"
:good: I have done, the same, for years.
Where is the setting to designate the directory for autosave files in Carlson with Intellicad?
From the IntelliCAD menu, go to Tools, Options, then look under the Paths/Files Tab
or
From any Carlson Menu, go to Setting, IntelliCAD Options, then look under the Paths/Files Tab
The above was lifted from That CAD Girl's website.
