I have this friend who needs to reinstall ACAD 2006. (Crashed Hard Drive ... long story but you know the drill.)

They have lost their cd's that came with the software. AutoDesk was contacted. They provided the install codes and authorization key; but indicated the client would have to find someone else to get them the software as they had no way of providing a download.

This friend and I have seen places to download ACAD 2006 from the web; but, the sites from which this seems possible are sketchy at best. There is great concern the code will have been modified with ill intent.

Any suggestions?

Larry P

AutoDesk told him to contact a reseller in his area.

Nice. I think that would be the best place to get. But, I bet they will want to charge something for the download. best of luck.

Edit: I didn't think 2006 had anymore support including installs.

AutoDesk does have an AutoCAD 2006 service pack that can be downloaded. My thinking is if AutoDesk no longer can provide the full program code what makes them think one of their dealers can?

A lot of the resellers have old disks lying around.
