I was reviewing a project completed by a firm with a Trimble MX2. It is a Civil 3d project with all the usual Civil 3d goodies including a surface and a fairly large *.MMS file. (145 MB)

I brought part of the project home (without the MMS) and the surface will not load without it. So I am not sure what is going on in TrimbleTown and other than seeing MMS used in POSpak, I cannot find out why there is a fairly massive file bogging down CAD for no apparent reason.

I do not recall seeing a MMS file in the Civil 3d projects, perhaps that is special.

I believe the firm processes in TopoDOT, though they may have gone Trimble when they purchased the MX2.

.mms is an external file to the drawing that contains the surface data, it happens when the surface is too large to be contained internally in the drawing.
