We have a new workstation in the office, and I was going to get adobe acrobat standard to make PDF's with. Any idea when they did this (what version), and if I would be able to get the non-subscription based software?

Acrobat Standard is $300 at your local Office Depot, or Amazon, if that is what you are asking. I'm pretty sure that the subscription price ($20/month) is just an option.

I currently have Adobe XI Pro, my son found free on the internet.

Adobe has started Creative Cloud plan at around $29.99/month.

I believe it gives you their current suite of programs that are interactive to do much more than pro version will do.

It will give you enough programming to create, share and publish a complete magazine if wanted and have 20GB cloud storage.

There are lots of free (or nag-ware) programs out there that look like another printer in any program's print menu. If all you need to do is capture printed outputs, try one.

Be careful. If he found it free, then it is likely pirated and may even contain viruses and/or malware.

A great alternative to Adobe is Foxit. I imagine it is quite a bit cheaper than adobe as well: Foxit
