I am looking at purchasing Adobe Acrobat X to be able to work with pdf's and also to convert dwg's into pdf's. I am also interested in electronically signing my seal. Will the "standard" version work or will I have to buy the "Pro"?
TC,
You might want to give this a "look-see" before you spend lot's o bucks with Adobe.

Have a great week.
We were buying the Pro version because we were told that we had to have it for digital signatures. This year someone in IT looked into it more, and found out that Standard works just fine. We've renewed the Pro licenses that we already owned, but all new users get the Standard version and everything seems to work properly.

Nitropdf will definitely handle digital signatures, and does them quite well. I have a few issues with Nitro doing Acad plots with images. Nitro takes forever to make the pdf file. I just use two Cutepdf or Bullzip to create the files when Nitro doesn't want to cooperate.
Used to have full Adobe before changing to Win7, then dropped it. Adobe definitely had better Acad print capabilities.

I use acroplot prop
You can view it/demo it at www.cadzation.com
We use Pro but I am pretty sure (as others have stated) that the standard version will work with digital signatures. Pro gives you the option to create forms and other various tools.
What issues a you referring to?
We've had issues using the Save to PDF function in AutoCAD. Apparently, raster images from PDF files do not print properly on some plotters.
Interestingly, it turns out that back masks in PDF files also do not print well on some plotters.
In th end, we learned that it is a plotter issue and not necessarily a PDF issue.

When I switched over to Win7 last summer, I was shocked at the pricing for Acrobat Pro X. However, I soon learned that Acrobat Pro 9 could be had -- in spades -- on eBay for around $100. That's worked out well for me.

I'm not sure what the Nitropdf printer driver's issue was, but every time I plot a dwg file using the NitroPro printer driver, the background aerial image would choke it to a crawl on a 64bit Win7 system. Choke it to a dead stop was more like it. After two hours, it would finally spit out a final pdf file that wouldn't open 85% of the time. Switched to free CutePDF and could plot the same pdf file in less than 60 seconds.
I occasionally find a pdf file that NitroPDF won't open (or takes forever to open) that will open just fine in AdobeReader. I also find pdf's that say they're searchable, but Nitro can't find a word in a search and can't select them. OCR the file and it says it's already searchable text. ??? Definitely has a few quirks. ???

We've been using Nuance's PDF Converter Professional for Years and prefer it to Acrobat Pro. Works great with AutoCAD and does digital signatures just fine. Best part is the price.
PDFCreator does digital signatures now. Free and works great!
I use PDF Creator and it works just fine, from letter and legal size to 24" x 36" format. I have even sent ACAD plots with raster images attached through it and they come out just fine. And like has been said before, it's free!
