Every spring for the past six years, I've said to my wife and friends, "Let's get together and go up to one of Levon's Midnight Rambles".

We could never all cobble together the time to take a weekend off.......a lesson re-learned again today......TAKE THE TIME, WHILE YOU HAVE IT.

I was lucky enough to see him at the Beacon Theater a couple of times in recent years, and of course, way back when in 1974 on that Dylan/Band tour.

My best memory of him was to see him holding a guitar over the head of Lesley West at West's wedding at Bethel during the Woodstock 40th Anniversary concert. All the guitarists appearing that day performed an "Arch of Sabers" ceremony on stage, and Levon joined in.

sad day - getting a ticket to the Midnight Ramble was a tough, demand was very high. you would have had to have planned well in advance and been lucky to buy more than 2 tickets. I had quite a few friends who were shut out when Grace Potter and the Nocturnals played the Ramble a couple years ago. Saw the pics - what a cool place and a cool man.

Jonathan Frid (Barnabas Collins)......Dark Shadows star, at 87 years old. He lived in Hamilton, Ontario..

But, is he really dead?

(Hint: He has a cameo in the upcoming Johnny Depp/Tim Burton film.....)

Greg Ham - RIP

Saxophonist (and several other instruments) for the Australian band Men at Work. Maybe not a long career here, but definitely memorable.

When your arms are empty, got nowhere to go
Come on out and catch the show
There'll be saints and sinners you'll see losers and winners
All kinds of people you might want to know

RIP Levon.

Levon Helm R.I.P.

I've been listening to Levon Helm (on Spotify) since I read about him being in the last stages of his disease on Wednesday. I knew a few of his songs but had no idea, man what a talent, in so many directions and genres. A true musician and artist.
