Just heard Dave passed at 91.
"Take Five" has been on my mind ever since!
I missed a chance to see him a few years ago and now I will always have regrets.
He would have been 92 tomorrow......
There was a "Birthday Bash" scheuled in Waterbury CT for tomorrow night....Brubeck lived in nearby Norwalk. I hope they carry on.
Were I not preparing for a trip, I could spend a few hours writing about his music. He will sorely be missed. Let's all "Take Five".
"Take 5"
B-) :good:
Sad.
Not only a great composer and performer, but a real advocate for jazz.
Dave, wherever you are heading, "Take the A Train".
one of my favorites

Dave brubek and Dizzy Gillepie were the godfaters of fusion.
Brubek with European motifs and Gillespie with Afro-Cuban rhythms.
I saw Brubek here a few times. He always seem to be a gentle soul.
His son accompanied him a few times. A very good harmonica player and musician also.
He's a local boy. UOP Class of 1942.
