Carol Shelby of the Cobra, Shelby Cobra, Shelby GT and many other racing automobiles died yesterday at age 89. For those of us that grew up in the 50's and 60's that name was synonymous with racing. I have drooled over his cars for as long as I can remember.

Oh no!!!
What a terrible loss!!!!!
He also made a decent chili kit.
Motor heads around the world should be bowing down in sorrow.
I am. Any proper Mustang owner - former or otherwise - surely has to feel this loss.

Me too. I have owned several Mustangs in my life but never a Shelby. I did test drive a Shelby GT500 a few years ago (no intention on dropping $50K on it, just wanted to drive it). What a machine. He was a pioneer. R.I.P.

Very sad for gearheads everywhere. A very good friend of mine and his father are one of only 2 I think father-son owners of the recently produced Ford GTs. The dad was driving his GT to a car show a couple of years ago, and was rear-ended at a stoplight. The car was shipped to the Shelby workshop for the repairs. He went to pick up the car after the repairs and got a tour of the factory. He said it's an amazing operation. He's a ME, so he was like a kid in a candy store.
