Hi Team

We are looking to get into the Lidar game.?ÿ We have it down to Yellow Scan and Rock Robotic.?ÿ Had a couple of chats with Yellow Scan and their gear is impressive, i like the Trimble aspect, but Rock gear seems comparable, maybe an edge to Yellow on their IMU but i cant confirm, but otherwise the processing package for Rock looks really appealing, especially with the AI linework

Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

?ÿ

Thanks?ÿ

We've got the R2A and we've been loving it.?ÿ

I don't have any experience with anything else so I can't help compare and contrast.

What is the cost of the Yellow Scan? And to what extent is trimble involved in its processes?

?ÿ

@jimmac We've had some really awesome results with it.?ÿ

  • open pasture, +/- 0.1
  • hard surfaces, +/- 0.2
  • great coverage in dense vegetation - we did creek cross sections for about 2 miles to compare it and the worst I saw was about 1 foot out but it was because it was super dense and we didn't have great coverage and used interpolated values.?ÿ
  • We usually fly about 328' agl. (at this height, you cant pick out curb and gutter - we haven't really had the need to that though)

@antcrook still crunching some numbers but it looks like Rock will com it at about $70k USD all in with a yearly sub cost of $3k to $5K USD depending on which subs and deliverables ordered.?ÿ Yellow Scan coming in at $100k+ with still needing to purchase 3rd party software for deliverables
