Terrestrial photogrammetry with a pole

I'm fairly sure I read on a recent thread here that Trimble has discontinued its imaging rover, the V10.

I think the Javad has a camera option, and there's a video on how to measure to objects with it.

Anyone that use a system like this could provide us his experience ? Trimble v10 has been discontinuing I found some of them in eBay but they need Trimble r 10 rover to work and TBS software so I try to find a system like the above. Anyone that could help will be much appreciated.

I've done some using a telescoping pole and Sony camera. Integrated with drone imagery and processed with Pix4D. No experience or opinion on the stuff in the video or Trimble equipment.

What I've done seems like it costs less than what I see above. I have no idea though and haven't looked at any type of dedicated equipment for terrestrial photogrammetry. The camera and pole we have was purchased before I came to my company and I never asked what we spent on it. I have been shopping Faro scanners.

My experience has been to incorporate high resolution imagery with images obtained with the drone for better reconstruction of facades and higher quality 3D models. Get lots of overlap is the most basic advice I have. I'm sure workflows and processing is very different depending on what you're using. Practice is pretty important in my opinion. Good research is also a key to not buying stuff that sucks or later learning there was an easier/better way to go.

For example Pix4D doesn't support Sentera multispectral sensors, but they're less expensive than Micasense and pretty good looking units. Therefore, people buy them and find out their software isn't that sweet. Now they wanna process with Pix4D and boom, stonewalled. Therefore, I would "measure twice, cut once" as the old saying goes.

Probably not too helpful or anything you didn't already know, but since you asked...

We've used the Sony A6000 from our fixed wing UAV to fill in face detail on buildings, etc. It's a bit trial and error, but if the air photography already has coverage to the faces then the ground photography fills things in nicely.

For facades we use an extendable pole and take images at 0.6m, 2m. 4m. 1nd 6m. in height. You need a link from a phone to trigger the camera. Take sections along the facade so that alternate sections overlap slightly. We process in Photoscan bu Pix4D would work just as well.

You sometimes need to get extra shots of the roof area from nearby buildings (assuming you can't fly the site).

You can use any Trimble rover with the V10. You can also use the V10 with a prism and instrument, or you can use it just by itself. But no matter how you use the V10, you need to process in TBC. I have not been able to find where anyone has processed the images with any other software.
