When importing a shapefile (*.shp) into Carlson GIS, does the projection of the drawing have to match the imported file?

Example, what would happen to the imported data if the source data is Lambert and the drawing is set to UTM?

I am not too experienced with GIS files, thanks for the help.

I'm not sure how Carlson GIS would handle the variation between shapefile and drawing file coordinate systems, but I would be happy to transform the shapefile if you would like to test.

Cheers,

Thanks I looked at the source metadata file (.prj), turns out the projection is actually TM, matches what I had set.
