Oh.....and I just remembered when he figured out that the earth had tilted off its axis. He observed that the sun was in a different location as the same time last year from his hot tub......Kind of makes you wonder if you solar or stellar observations were any good any more.
Not sure how a surveyor can even say that, who (supposedly) is versed in navigating from solar observations and GPS and using bearings and distances.
I guess if you keep predicting that different famous people are going to die, and one finally does, you will get a following who thinks you can predict the future.
I paid no attention whatsoever to TDD. It is almost always the best plan to ignore or discount what anyone has to say in this sort of forum about politics or religion.
The claim where I had to call BS was when he claimed he could set up and level an instrument over 10 different specific points in under 1 minute.
By my math that is a set up every 6 seconds. That one drew a great big KA-CHING.... NO SALE, from me.

Now that the military has lifted the "don't ask don't tell" he has decided to join up, the new army is right up his alley, homo friendly with lots of ammo and he can keep a close eye on the government, win win win.
He was a pretty good surveyor.
He was not one of the greats.
He was also an embarrassment to the profession and to these forums.

You missed one piece of that puzzle. He had said he could set up over 10 quarters in less than a minute, and offered it as a bet. I finally guessed it. His trick was to set up over 10 quarters by putting them in a quarter roll and setting up over the whole stack at once. You rang up a "no sale" on the only one that he was probably telling the truth about.
Oops....maybe I should have bet you that I could do it before I gave away the trick.;-)

Agreed. I don't care what he thought or said when he was talking to close friends and family. But, like it or not, this and other Internet forums are public. When any of us acts inappropriately, it reflects poorly on the entire profession.

Whelll, (That's a southern drawl, usually given to extend the time, so as to think a bit, before answering!)
He died of dehydration!

LOL!!!!
Ted went missing in action. He had some good points about surveying and practical use. His contrary attempt to prove he was something other than a person was entertaining, but not realistic. The embellished stories and such made ya wonder who and what was the subject. He had a very poor bedside manner. This is not only regarding survey matters, but it got worse with his political opinions/rantings. Rough around the edges is being nice. But it is his opinion and I respect him for that, just not how he applied the same. I hope he is doing well.
Wendell banned for a reason from a survey chat room. I would not want Ted to be anyway interpreted as a rep for land surveyors. Just as a surveyor. There are other Ted's in the world when it comes to representing (or attempting) Surveying as a profession. I bet the folks here may know a few. Regardless, he is where he is because of Ted....not Wendell.
As a representative of any profession there should always be a polished side, that which most represents the real side of the person. Not the raw, untamed side which boasts of arrogance.
when he posted that the sun's path through the sky had suddenly changed; I knew he had moved to fruit street.
Thanks, Just, I appreciate the kind words. He sealed his own fate. Had he simply just continued to violate some category rules and such, he probably would have lasted a lot longer. The vulgar emails containing name-calling and other stupid statements is what finally did it for me.
> More like a blind squirrel finding a nut.
In Ted's case, it was more like a blind nut finding a squirrel.
LOL!! 😀
You've got to give the ole boy credit for at least one thing, I'd just about bet a dollar to a dime he is probably THE most discussed and talked about banned poster in the history of www message boards.

Has gold hit $2000 yet?

We're all equal before the eyes of God (i.e., if you're Christian).

As far as the most "discussed & banned"...That one and the "other" one (not TDD) that threatened to slice my daughters throat open and leave her on our porch to bleed to death and "shoot us both between the eyes" if he ever saw us...all because Wendell banned him for threatening other members (and us), cussing out people that he did not agree with on the forum, posting pornographic images, etc...
Jerk!!! :-@
"Him did not like to realize that some are more equal than others."
Not everybody is equal, IMHO. In an earthly sense, that is.
ie, I don't hire a dentist, to do land surveying!
OR irritate the moderator!!
Good to see ya, Lost Corner. how's your health?

Angel that is more than a jerk, whomever said or wrote those words needs to be tended to, saying those words could and should certainly land him in jail.
General threats are not illegal such as " you are gonna regret this" or " you are gonna be sorry" however specific threats of violence are highly illegal, such as "I am gonna hit you in the face" or "I am gonna slice your daughters throat and shoot you between the eyes".
I personally would not let this slide..
Now I am really curious as to who it was, I can't think of anyone.
Banned.
Did you report this? Did the police (or FBI) do anything?

> Did you report this? Did the police (or FBI) do anything?
At first, we did not. We were terrified (and threatened) that if we did anything as even mention their "name" and "ruin" their reputation, we'd receive even "worse" consequences. At the time we felt trapped and...well...defenseless. :-/
This individual and the other one (who are coincidentally both "friends" on another "site") have/had harassed us for a while. After the latest recent "threatening incident" we did take action. While I am not allowed to mention specific "names" on a public forum, I am allowed to discuss what has happened to us.
I should have added "jerks" because there were a few "specific" idiots that have threatened us. The two that threatened our lives, though, are really REALLY wack nuts and as some have said previously, give a bad name to the surveying profession.
Fortunately, the rest of you guys give a GOOD name back to it. 🙂
