Besides eatin', doing my CE requirements, and actually liking "Hallmark" movies. Going to "putter"(old peoples word for screw off) around in the yard, get some hibiscus clippings and root about 4 dozen. ???? ?ÿ
Getting caught up on this massive workload backlog.
Did discover those Hallmark movies last year. ?ÿGuilty pleasure.
S.O.P. around here.?ÿ I don't really get out much anyway except to work.?ÿ And my work is still keeping me busy.?ÿ I get work orders by email, download all the available records, throw my gear in the truck and I'm off.?ÿ The rural areas welcome me with their indifference to the insanity in town.?ÿ The closest I am to other humans is when I swipe my card at the gas pumps.?ÿ But I only work 2 or maybe three days a week.?ÿ I have the usual things around here to keep me busy...a garage that needs rearranging and the perennial yard duty..not to mention "turd patrol" for my 4 dogs.?ÿ
I have altered my grocery shopping to the 2AM to 3AM time period.?ÿ The crowds are definitely thinner, but also a little weirder...I fit right in.
?ÿ
As noted before....
You learn how distracting the office is (working at home).
VPN was impossible two weeks ago now set up at lightning speed.
@dave-karoly who is your provider? I live in Shelter Valley, I’ve decided that means sheltered from high speed internet...

Some of that lingo has quite different connotation in the Aussie vernacular. Those last five words would suggest you are indeed quite the man about town.
?ÿ
Not all that different than the routine so far.?ÿ The trick will be in a couple of weeks if the courthouses are still difficult to get into.?ÿ Until then just finishing up existing projects.
That may be changing though as our county health department announced a few hours ago that there is now one positive COVID-19 case in our county.?ÿ Someone who had traveled out of the country and somehow came to our county.?ÿ I don't know if they were passing through or got arrested but the announcement said "when the person arrived in this county".
Work, work, work from home.
Field teams are still out, busy or calm depending on the region of the country.
Hope to catch up with latest regulations in a few weeks and update or F2F-libraries, best practises.
Giving online infosessions about pointclouds and changed laws of ROW's for our engineers.
Very much business as usual ... but from home with Skype and Teams Calls
- Discovering that the wife and dog get out of bed much later than I had previously been led to believe.?ÿ?ÿ
- Re-purposing my commuting time to watching 60's and 70's war movies on Amazon Prime (already watched A Bridge Too Far & The Battle of Britain)
- Getting scolded because those boxes of shortbread were supposed to "last the duration"
Working from home with the wife on her side of the table and me on mine.?ÿ
Dog going in and out the back door. Cat sheltered in the other bedroom far from the dog.
I've heard the field crews are still operating and the office is open, with restrictions, of course.
Evening news casting team here are too close together on their normal broadcast set. Each day, one broadcasts from home while the other is in the studio. They alternate days.
Some health official was talking on TV last evening about social distancing and a co-worker was by her side throughout.?ÿ I was impressed.
Social distancing may eliminate the baby boom that we usually see after such interruptions to normalcy as this.
Drafting from home, reading "Evidence and procedures for boundary locations",Topcon's online e-learning course currently free, and occasionally watching the animals on the San Diego zoo webcams ????ÿ
At home my internet service provider is Consolidated Communications, they serve Sacramento County, Roseville, and Kansas City (they bought the old Roseville Telephone Company).
VPN is FortiNet. We also have Cisco but I couldn't figure out what to put in the box and the other one works.
It is easier because I'm using my field laptop. Nick is having to go pickup a loaner laptop from IT so he can get files off the servers. His personal laptop has the same software we use (Microsurvey CAD) so that is easier.
The State thinks it is still 1960, you must have a 150 sf workspace with 3x6 desk and dial telephone, fire escapes, etc etc etc. Most people can work on their sofa with the current technology.
F2F is what I'm doing, long put off procrastinated task. Will save time but there's never time to do it.
My last day in the office, I will be helping to print items for the medical industry hopefully starting tomorrow (the MIT 3D printed ventilator is really well done), answering what few business calls are still happening and responding to the few usual requests.?ÿ I am hoping to squeeze some time in for some truly stupid work, a 3D printed 2x scale Curta (about 25% done), a laser gun made from a Chinese laser engraving table I bought a few years ago (about 65% done) and setting up and modifying a Chinese K40 laser cutter with all of the add ons (they have a cult following)
the ... software we use (Microsurvey CAD)
So... How about a review? How do you like working with Microsurvey?
