My 41 has been my faithful companion for 20+ years, it sits on my desk and never goes anywhere else.
Well, my personal office door has a lock code and only three people know it besides me, a guy I really trust, and two new guys.
I just used it a week ago for some calculations and today go to use it....poof it is gone.
the whole calculator is gone, or just the survey pac chip?
Both!
So where are interested prospective employees to send resume
Sorry to hear that. I hope you find out which one took it and then I would let them go.
Sorry to be so dense, I am a little groggy from some surgery last week.
I don't have a calc for you, but I think I have an extra chip if you need it.

Only god knows how many times I have seemed to lose something only to have it turn up in some obvious place. I'd be mighty slow to do any accusing. Why would some new guy steal your 30 year old technology from your locked office?
TIME TO UPGRADE TO A 48! I HAVE AN EXTRA ONE SETTING HERE FREE IF YOU WANT IT JUST LET ME KNOW.
YOUR PAL,
SNOOP
Get an iPhone and purchase the $30 i41CX app and you can download the entire Survey Pack and have it run on your iPhone for free. I think something similar is available for Android phones.
You probably misplaced it like I do my stuff.
Cliff,
Do you know if that works on the iPod Touch, as well?
thanx,
geezer
I can't stand a thief. If you find someone stole it, make sure they "feel" how angry you are about losing your stuff.
Should work. My son has an iPod touch and he said it is the same as the iPhone except that it has no microphone. He has run several iPhone apps on his touch.
thieves and liars ain't good for nothin but politics
No, do not upgrade just because. The old school guys can still run circles around the new guys ( that have leveraged tech.) stay with what works for you. Doing things differently sometimes triggers a different thought pattern, which is what I like about old school.
I agree wait until you are sure there was theft involved, then have a staff meeting where you tell them all desks will be searched ....;).
The advertisements say so, but I do not have personal knowledge of such.

Better yet, upgrade to an Ipad and you will be able to see the printer tape and calculator all on the screen, You can also e-mail the printer tape to use in other applications.
Did you check the fridge? Whenever I loose my TV remote, I always check the fridge. Most of the time it is there. I don't know how it gets there, but it does.;-)
Miguel
I know how. You set it down, when you grab the next beer. I done that, myself.
Some helpful e-mail correspondance with the i41CX folks:
Me: How do I get this for my iPhone with the “Survey Pack”?
Al Software: To use expansion modules such as the Surveying Pac, you'll need i41CX+ or i41CX with the "i41CX+ Features Upgrade". If you have either of these, here is how you would install it.
1. Tap the center of the calculator's LCD display area access the back view of the calculator where you'll find the module ports.
2. Tap one of the module ports.
3. Select the "Download from URL..." picker item.
4. Enter http://hp41.org/mod into the URL field.
(This is pre-entered so if you hadn't edited it, just accept the pre-entered URL).
5. Tap the "Download" button.
6. Wait 😉 ...
Assuming that hp41.org is online (they do go down occasionally for maintenance), after the download completes you will have the vast majority of modules ever created for the HP-41 in your iPhone, including the Survey module.
7. Scroll down to the SURVEY module and tap the "Select" button to load it into the selected port. Tap the "Done" button to dismiss the module picker.
8. Tap the "rotate" icon located between the module ports to return to the front of the calculator to use the Survey Pac functions/programs.
By the way, in case you weren't already aware, the above procedure is described at the below URL.

You may want to browse the FAQ as you might find other useful information there.
I hope this helps.
Me: Thank you so much. I did not look closely enough to the faq's, sorry.
I wonder if the survey module from HP will come with instructions (we will see).
Al Software: You'll find the manuals to most HP modules, including the Surveying Pac, at the below URL.
Sorry to hear Boundary Lines, I have always liked my old HP41CX.
For all of those that wonder why would some young whippersnapper want to steal an old calculator and think that they probably wouldn't know how to use it. Have you seen how much an HP41cx can sell for on EBay? That might give you a clue.
Who deserves the profit from something like that (even if the owner doesn't want it any more: the guy who bought it and used it for all of these years or some young moron who doesn't even know what he got?
What if I took your first-edition superman comic from your desk and especially if you were a big superman fan. Would you want advice about how you can rent a superman movie, and/or how you can get a picture of the magazine on line?
Just some thoughts.
I am sure the advice is good to get the 41 for your hand-held tab thing, and I am thinking about getting one myself one of these days. (I just question minimizing the loss of a good old tool that someone understood and used)
