The typical Jazz band consists of;
Alto saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Baritone Saxophone
sometimes Soprano Saxaphone
Guitar
Trumpet
Trombone, or bass trombone
Bass (electric or upright)
Drum Set
Piano
Eight to ten instruments playing three or four different tunes all at the same time.:-X
Yep, it's music that "travels in a circle" and never gets anywhere, but not a bad a rap crap.
Never heard of a "typical Jazz band." Where does this definition come from?
I just made it up. I realize there is really nothing typical about Jazz.
[sarcasm]I like both kinds of music; Country AND Western![/sarcasm]
the original/typical early jazz trio was piano, drums, double bass
> the original/typical early jazz trio was piano, drums, double bass
[sarcasm]Wasn't there a Sitar in there; somewhere too? [/sarcasm] :-S
The best Jazz album ever recorded (and probably the best album of any genre of music) - Kind of Blue, was recorded by a sextet.
That's sort of a little "Big Band".
I would call this Country Jazz....
I gotta get me a hat like that....;-)

:good: 😀
Yup, like others stated no real typical jazz band. But I do like some jazz when traveling on the open west Texas highways. I recently picked up a 4 disk set of Miles Davis w/ John Coltrane during their last European tour in 1968/69. You get the feeling that they did not like each other. Great stuff though
Cannonball Adderly...This-year (This Here)
One of my favorite Swing tunes...
Artie Shaw and His Orchestra...Begin the Beguine.
