Is anybody willing to upload a video for me? My brother found the most interesting spider and I thought maybe somebody here might know a little something about spiders and could identify it.
The file is 4 MB. I don't have any social media accounts...

Sorry about the quality of the video.
So my brother found this "bug" out in the woods. There was a piece of concrete laying on the ground left over from an old homestead.
He didn't think to count the legs, but he called it a spider.
It had white legs.
It's hard to really see in the video, but this "spider" has disguised it's self to look like concrete.
The real kicker is that the "shell" is made out of insect parts.
There are ant legs, fly wings, moth legs, glued to it's back in the perfect location to create a camo affect.
Any ideas on what it may be? It was found in Northern Calif.
I have never seen anything like it.
It appears to be a little clumsy with the weight of the "shell".
And here it is:

Baby hermit crab?
OK, so I don't think it is a hermit crab or an Orb Weaver.
The key to identification will probably be the act of disguising it's self using body parts of it's prey.
Possibly a lacewing larva (also sometimes called junk bugs)?

we just call them lichen bugs
I think you got it! Thanks.
Very interesting. It appears to be very close to what we call an ant lion around here.
